They are also commonly crossbred to create new breeds or to improve existing ones, and have been influential in the creation of the Quarter Horse, Standardbred, Anglo-Arabian, and various warmblood breeds.
- Arabian: As the name suggests, this breed of Horses traces its origins to the Deserts of what is now called the Middle East. Known for their stamina and intelligence. The have a very typical dished head and a beautiful arched neck. They are known to be very intelligent and affectionate.
- ppaloosa: it is believed that the Appaloosas trace their origins to the Wild Mustangs of America. They are the spotted horses we see ridden by native Americans in the movies. Mainly stock horses, they are also trained in many western riding disciplines.
- The Mongol: The Mongol Horse is a native of Mongolia. They are the most versatile and hardy breed amongst the equine world. Most Asian breeds have descended from the Mongol. Mongolia is a country of extreme weather conditions, and this breed of horse has been out grazing for generations. They were the main reason for the successes of Genghis Khan in his wars. Now in peace times they play an equally important role I the lives of the Mongolian people, serving as goods carriers and peoples carriers in the cities and towns to the remotest parts of the country.
- The Marwari: this breed of horses traces its origins to Jodhpur in India. The Marwari horse is a very sturdy horse with typical characteristics of curved ears and has a typical gait. Known for its stamina and tolerance of the hot desert weather, the were used in wars. They have a large regional presence in the western states of India.
- Andalusian: The Andalusian is the show horse of the equestrian sports and theatre world. they are found in the Andalusian region of Spain and are known for their thick mane and tail. Tracing back to the 14th century, there are about 200000 registered Andalusian horses in the world. It is believed that the demand for this breed diminished because of the Thoroughbred.
